The Weekly Discussion Groups:This is the most important communication tool that we will use during this course. It is an excellent way for you to communicate with fellow students, and with your instructor. You will have the opportunity (requirement) to respond to topics that have been posted for discussion by your instructor, or your fellow students. You will also be able to post your own topics, ask questions, and ask for help when needed. Online Student Discussion Group:This discussion group has been established for you to share your online experiences with other online students from other online classes. (This discussion area is only open to students taking online or telecourses)

Cerro Coso College Newsgroup: Cerro Coso College has its own Newsgroups to enable faculty, staff, and Students to discuss college wide issues. As a Cerro Coso Student, please join in the discussions , and sometimes lively debate that takes place within the College Newsgroups. To use the Newsgroup you will have to point your browser news software to the Cerro Coso News server. The address is:news.kern.cc.ca.us. Cerro Coso new items are included under the heading "cc".If you are unclear where this information should be entered, please refer to the attached tutorial information.

The Chat Room: A place where real time, written communications, can take place twenty four hours a day. Great for collaborative projects, group discussion, or just socializing, the use of the Chat room is optional in some classes, but an important part of others. Check your course syllabus carefully. The Class Listserve: A listserve is basically a discussion group that takes place through e-mail. Everyone in this class is on the same listserve, or mailing list. When an e-mail message is sent to one member of the class, it is received by all members of the class. Listserves are great for making announcements, and carrying on certain types of discussions.
